Salt Prints of the Salt Flats

Salt printing is one of the earliest forms of printing. It involves coating paper with gelatin and then with silver. The paper is then exposed to UV light and produces a print in a long development process. This process is long but the outcome is reliant. Nearly all the prints turned out how i anticipated except for a few that had chemicals that set out for too long.

My prints are all of the salt flats in Bolivia and i used the salt from Bolivia in the developing. The prints have a sepia tint to them and the printing process makes the photos seem nostalgic. The landscape seems are suiting to this process due to its original use.
