How to: Coffee Pour

What you’ll need:

  • Camera

  • Tripod

  • cold brew coffee

  • some sort of creamer

To make my set, I placed a black pasteboard against my chair and a black tile on top of my chair. I then placed planes and dried flowers around the edges of my frame. Next, I decided on which glass to use ( I ended up trying two of them). Lastly I used natural light at an angle as my main source of light and a small portable light at the edge of my frame to bring in some highlights.

To get this shot, you will either need a way to shoot with a remote or camera app or another person to pour. I used the canon connect app on my iPad and rapid shooting mode on my camera. I clicked the timer setting and then would watch where I poured my coffee.

After shooting, I brought my images into Lightroom and made just a few simple changes. I gave it a dark mood by bringing down my whites and highlights. I also muted my colors and used the brush tool to highlight my coffee and glass.
