My 1 Bedroom Apartment

I just moved! …. so here is my last apartment. I would define the style as retro eclectic with a hint of traditional. I have a lot of old pieces from different styles. Most of my furniture is mid century modern with a few traditional pieces in there. I displayed a lot of music inspired decor, like my record player, albums, and prints. My frames are a collection of things that are me: music, art, photos. Parts of my decor is practical, I use my books to tie everything together.

This was my first place as an “adult”. It is important to remember decorating takes time. Your place may not feel finished yet and that’s okay. I didn’t think this place was ever finished. Furniture and decor should be collected over time and not forced. I find most of my things second hand. Vintage stores are a great option for finding high quality things at a low price. Facebook marketplace and estate sales are also a great option. I do have things from Amazon, world market, and home goods, but the things I will be keeping for the long run weren't found at mass produced places.

Tip #2 is to think about you and what you like. Your interior design should reflect your personality. I can be an old soul and I like old cameras and old music, that is seen in my style. I am not super bold or outgoing, so I lean toward neutrals. I am an artist so my home is full of art and creative things. You don’t have to decorate your home a certain way. Lean into what makes you, you.
